Sundancer Jewelry Company was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico by Steven Stacy—a visionary entrepreneur and artist who worked hand-in-hand with local Native American artisans. Originally named Sundancer Indian Jewelry, the company helped pioneer the global recognition of Southwest and Native American jewelry, becoming one of the pioneers to bring these designs to the European market in the 1970s and ‘80s.
Steven Stacy is also credited with the invention of Liquid Silver, a delicate and fluid silver bead strand that quickly became an iconic staple of Southwest jewelry and remains a customer favorite to this day.
From Catalog to Contract Manufacturing
In the late 1980s, Sundancer launched a successful mail-order catalog business, bringing handcrafted charms and jewelry to customers around the world. As demand grew, so did our capabilities. We expanded into full-scale casting and custom manufacturing, supporting the growing needs of boutique brands, fashion houses, and retail companies alike.
By the early 1990s, Sundancer had become a trusted contract manufacturer, producing high-quality jewelry components and hardware for major American brands—including work with names like Lucky Jeans. During this time, we also developed proprietary efficiencies in small charm production, eventually spinning off a dedicated charm division known as the Charm Factory, which continues to serve niche and personalized jewelry markets.
Still Made in the USA
Albuquerque was once known as a mecca for jewelry casting and manufacturing. While much of the industry has since moved offshore to countries like China, Sundancer has remained proudly rooted in the United States.
